modifications > First Detail + PPF

Why did you detail such a new car?

For most that don't know the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla is built at the Motomachi plant in Japan. My GR was built on 04/17/23, and it arrived at the dealer on 06/13/23. It sat at the port for almost a month, and the boat ride took almost a month.

By the time I picked up my GR it had been washed by the dealer a few times, but it needed a good detailing and protection. Anyone thinking a regular washing would do the job is sadly mistaken. The amount of deposits that were removed by my detailer was ridiculous!

What is PPF?

Paint Protection Film (PPF), aka clear bra, has been on the market for quite some time now. You used to only see it on high-end cars like Ferraris to protect the front from rock damage. There have been many generations of PPF. The very first films yellowed after time as they didn't stand up to the sun for an extended period of time. Fast forward to today, and the latest generation of Suntek films come with a 10-year warranty.

I've used 3M VentureShield, XPEL Ultimate, and Suntek on past vehicles, but my detailer chose Suntek PPF Ultra Tack and some PPF Matte for my GR. I chose to cover all of the body panels, headlights, and foglights with PPF. Then the entire GR was coated with Feynlab's best ceramic coatings. This protection will limit the amount of road rash or track debris that gets kicked up to take chunks of the factory paint out.
